MY APPROACH

MY APPROACH

This was a tricky challenge. So I slowed down, understood what the app currently does and what the problem statement is.

Here's what the current flow looks like :

  1. Organizer can choose dates & destinations (multiple but final is only one)

  2. The destination choices are up for vote

  3. The Invitee can suggest places to stay for the particular destination

Incorporating multiple destinations would touch the dates, places to stay and invitations.

questions

questions

  1. How do I differentiate multi-destination and single destination flow?

  2. How do I show the user they can select multiple destination?

  3. How do I make adding multiple dates to different destinations user-friendly?

  4. If there are conflicts for invitees on those dates, how do I inform the organizer?

  5. How do I make the entire experience fun for organizer, invitee and a non-planner?

I find marker & whiteboard to bring out the best in me.

personas

personas

  1. Organizer - This person sees themselves as the group's planner, organizing at least three yearly trips for 4 or more people, feeling that trips rely on their initiative.

  2. Casual Planner: This person will plan group trips when needed but doesn't particularly enjoy the process and does so infrequently.

  3. Non-planner: This person isn't the group's planner, may offer ideas, but prefers not to manage details, often just paying their share and showing up.

Psst..! I'm a non-planner.

CONCLUSION

They liked my approach of design & how I tackled the intricate nuances in the problem statement (the conflict management), and I won!

This was a learning experience for me; how to redefine my approach to design solutions and how to improve my design thinking.
